Summit Housing & Outreach Programs is committed to supporting volunteerism in Halton Region. We recognize that in order to achieve our goals as an organization, we need to involve volunteers in our work. We regard volunteers as a valuable resource and encourage them to get involved at all levels of the organization and within all appropriate activities. Summit recognizes the instrumental role volunteers can be in strengthening and enriching our organization. Volunteering can also be an effective empowerment and recovery tool for individuals living with a mental illness. The Volunteer Program offers opportunities for community members to get involved at Summit in a variety of ways. The program will have opportunities to volunteer in:
Friendly Phone Visitor – The Friendly Phone Visitor volunteer will help others through providing socializing opportunities to people who are experiencing substance abuse issues or mental health concerns. Group Leader – Our Group Leader volunteers serve a vital role in our Health and Wellness Program. Our goal is to reduce isolation and increase community connection for those in our community who require mental health supports. Our Group Leader volunteers facilitate our social recreational programs, providing leadership and promoting comradery. We are looking for people to share their craft, favourite hobby our skill with our clients.
Other Volunteer Opportunities – Volunteers who would like to facilitate one-time or ongoing group events are welcome to submit an application and a letter outlining their plan (i.e.¸a yoga class ro art group, fundraising events, etc.).
